If you plan to use ARCNET networking with FactoryFloor, you must install this software. ***************************************************************************** IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ALL FACTORYFLOOR USERS In addition to adding ARCNET networking support to FactoryFloor software, PCI20 ARCNET R1.0A also fixes a compatibility problem where Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 or Service Pack 4 conflicts with Opto 22 FactoryFloor (R3.1c through R4.0b) and the Opto 22 Adapter Card Toolkit (R1.0a through R1.0c). A system crash may occur if either of these software packages is installed on a computer that already has Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 or Service Pack 4 installed. Even if you do not use ARCNET networking with Opto 22 FactoryFloor software, you MUST install this software if you plan to run FactoryFloor software on a computer that has Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 or Service Pack 4 installed. See "Who Should Install This Software" below for more information. ***************************************************************************** Who Should Install This Software -------------------------------- You should install PCI20 ARCNET R1.0A for FactoryFloor if you: -- Currently use or plan to use ARCNET network communication with FactoryFloor R3.1c or later, or -- Use FactoryFloor R3.1c through FactoryFloor R4.0b build 2, and plan to upgrade your PC to Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 or Service Pack 4, or -- Plan to install FactoryFloor R3.1c through FactoryFloor R4.0b build 2 on a computer that already has Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 or Service Pack 4 installed. Installation Steps for ALL Users -------------------------------- 1) If you haven't already done so, download the file PCI20Arcnet_R10A.exe from the Downloads section of the Opto 22 Web site. 2) Double-click the file to start installation. 3) Follow the instructions that appear. 4) If the Windows "New Hardware Wizard" dialog box appears, follow the instructions as shown. When the location for the WinDriver Virtual Device is requested, browse to the directory that applies to your operating system: c:\opto22\drivers\win2k_xp c:\opto22\drivers\win9x_ME Drivers are installed by default in the \opto22\drivers directory. If you installed the drivers in a different location, browse to that directory instead. 5) You may need to reboot your computer after software installation is complete.
